Role Purpose

The Technical Electrical Team Leader is responsible for leading the electrical engineering function within the construction company, overseeing the design, coordination, and implementation of electrical systems across projects. This role ensures all electrical works are compliant, efficient, and aligned with project requirements, timelines, and budgets.

Key Accountabilities

  • Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of electrical engineers and draftsmen.
    Plan and assign workloads to ensure timely project delivery.
    Conduct performance evaluations and support professional growth.
  • Electrical Design & Technical Oversight
  • Oversee the design and review of electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, low current systems, and grounding.
    Ensure compliance with local codes, regulations, and project specifications.
    Review load calculations, single-line diagrams, and equipment selection.
  • Project Coordination
  • Coordinate with architectural, structural, and mechanical teams for integrated design solutions.
    Liaise with project managers, contractors, and consultants.
    Participate in coordination meetings and technical workshops.
  • Execution & Site Support
  • Provide technical support during construction and installation phases.
    Review and approve shop drawings, material submittals, and as-built drawings.
    Resolve technical issues and ensure proper system installation on-site.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance
  • Implement QA/QC procedures for all electrical deliverables.
    Ensure compliance with safety standards and electrical regulations.
    Monitor project progress to ensure adherence to timelines and budgets.
  • Innovation & Optimization
  • Promote energy-efficient and sustainable electrical solutions.
    Apply value engineering to optimize system performance and cost.
    Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry best practices.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 6-8 years of experience in electrical engineering within the construction industry.
  • Proven experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of power systems, lighting design, and low current systems.
  • Experience in large-scale or complex construction projects is preferred.
