Role Purpose

The Senior Structural Engineer is responsible for reviewing, designing, coordinating, and supervising structural engineering activities to ensure that all structural works comply with approved drawings, project specifications, applicable codes, quality standards, safety requirements, and project schedules.

The role involves coordinating with architectural, MEP, construction, and technical office teams to ensure the successful execution of structural works from design review through construction and handover.

Key Accountabilities

  • Review structural design calculations, drawings, and specifications to ensure compliance with applicable building codes and project requirements.
  • Review structural systems, foundations, reinforced concrete elements, and structural steel works, as applicable.
  • Verify the adequacy of structural details, reinforcement arrangements, connections, and construction methodologies.
  • Identify design discrepancies, technical risks, and potential constructability issues, and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Review design modifications and assess their technical and structural implications.
  • Provide technical support to site engineers and construction teams during the execution of structural works.
  • Ensure that structural construction activities are carried out in accordance with approved shop drawings, method statements, specifications, and inspection requirements.
  • Conduct site inspections and resolve technical issues related to foundations, columns, beams, slabs, retaining walls, and other structural elements.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, consultants, and client representatives to resolve structural engineering issues.
  • Review requests for information (RFIs), technical submittals, and proposed technical alternatives.
  • Monitor structural works to ensure compliance with approved drawings and project requirements.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, with a specialization or strong background in Structural Engineering.-
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience in structural engineering, preferably within a construction or contracting company.
  • Proven experience in reinforced concrete structures and, where applicable, structural steel construction.
  • Experience in reviewing structural drawings, design calculations, shop drawings, and technical submissions.
  • Previous experience coordinating with consultants, subcontractors, site teams, and technical offices.
  • Experience in residential, commercial, industrial, or mixed-use construction projects is preferred.
  • Professional registration or membership with the relevant engineering authority, where applicable.
