Quality Deputy Project Manager

Role Purpose

The Deputy Quality Manager supports the Quality Manager in developing, implementing, and monitoring the Quality Management System (QMS) across construction projects. This role ensures that all works, materials, and processes meet contractual specifications, international standards, and regulatory requirements. The Deputy acts as a key liaison between project teams, consultants, and clients to maintain high-quality deliverables and minimize rework or non-conformance.

Key Accountabilities

  • Quality Management System (QMS): Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining the company’s QMS in line with ISO 9001 and other relevant standards.
  • Support audits (internal, client, and third-party) and ensure timely closure of non-conformities.
  • Review and update quality procedures, method statements, and inspection & test plans (ITPs).
  • Project Quality Assurance: Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and codes.
  • Oversee quality inspections, material testing, and documentation.
  • Support site engineers in resolving quality-related issues and provide guidance on corrective/preventive actions.
  • Leadership & Coordination: Supervise quality engineers, inspectors, and document controllers within the department.
  • Act as deputy to the Quality Manager, stepping in during absence and ensuring continuity of operations.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Site Engineers, and HSE teams to integrate quality with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Ensure timely preparation of quality reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and corrective action reports (CARs).
  • Monitor KPIs related to quality performance and report trends to management.
  • Maintain proper documentation and control of quality records for handover packages.
  • Training & Development: Support in training project staff on quality standards, inspection procedures, and best practices.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement across all projects.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in QA/QC within large-scale construction projects, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of construction codes, specifications, and international quality standards (ISO 9001, ASTM, BS, etc.).
  • Experience in conducting internal and external audits.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and quality management software.
