Role Purpose
The Contracts Manager is responsible for leading the organization’s pre-award and post-award contractual activities, ensuring that all contracts, subcontracts, and agreements are properly drafted, administered, and controlled in line with company policies, applicable laws, and industry best practices. The role safeguards the company’s contractual rights and obligations by identifying and mitigating risk, managing claims and variations, and providing sound contractual and commercial advice to senior management, project teams, clients, and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle, from tender stage through to contract close-out.
Key Accountabilities
- Set the policies and procedures of the department.
- Make and improve the contract forms for the organization. Assess the performance of the team and every team member separately.
- Supervise the work on the claims/variation log and apply the due date.
- Review, advise, examine and prepare the necessary risk assessment for higher level decisions.
- Provide contractual advice to the organizational functions regarding the company’s obligations and merits in front of the clients and subcontractors.
- Review and advise on claims and variations analysis when needed.
- Ensure that the department’s appropriate procedures and best practices are being utilized in performing the commercial and contractual tasks by the team, from the date of commencement of contract through to its closure.
- Review major/critical contractual correspondences and prepare or advise on the necessary replies and other contractual correspondences.
- Engage with the client, consultants, and subcontractors in deals and negotiations involved in the project's contractual entitlements.
- Handle all special assignments within the scope of the department if required.
- Comply with HSE requirements.
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree, certified in Contracts Management, Risk Management, PMP, and Cost Management; RICS membership and/or MBA preferable.
- Experience: Minimum 10 years of relevant Contracts experience.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint).
- Strong knowledge of FIDIC standard forms of contract, the Egyptian Civil Code, and local construction law, with proven experience in claims preparation, negotiation, and dispute resolution.
- Language: Excellent command of English language skills.
