Role Purpose
The BIM Architecture Team Leader is responsible for leading and coordinating the architectural BIM team throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring the accurate and timely development, coordination, and delivery of architectural BIM models and documentation in accordance with project requirements, BIM standards, and company procedures. The role acts as a key technical link between the BIM team, architectural discipline, technical office, site teams, consultants, and other project stakeholders.
Key Accountabilities
Lead, manage, and coordinate the architectural BIM team assigned to projects.
Allocate tasks and responsibilities among BIM architects based on project priorities, workload, and required deliverables.
Develop and maintain architectural BIM models using Revit and other relevant BIM software.
Ensure models are developed in accordance with project BIM Execution Plans, Employer's Information Requirements (EIR), project standards, and company BIM standards.
Review architectural models, drawings, families, and BIM deliverables to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with project requirements.
Coordinate architectural models with structural, MEP, infrastructure, and other disciplines to identify and resolve design and construction conflicts.
Conduct regular model reviews and clash detection activities and ensure timely resolution of identified issues.
Support the BIM Manager in implementing BIM workflows, standards, templates, and procedures across projects.
Monitor the team's progress against project BIM deliverables, milestones, and submission schedules.
Ensure all architectural BIM deliverables are issued accurately and on time.
Coordinate with design consultants, subcontractors, and project teams regarding architectural BIM requirements and technical issues.
Participate in BIM coordination meetings, technical meetings, design review meetings, and coordination workshops.
Review shop drawings, construction drawings, and coordinated BIM models to ensure consistency between model information and project documentation.
Support the technical office and site teams in extracting accurate information, quantities, drawings, sections, schedules, and details from BIM models.
Ensure BIM models reflect the latest approved design and construction information.
Assist in developing BIM content, including Revit families, templates, details, and project-specific components.
Ensure proper model organization, naming conventions, worksharing, coordinates, parameters, and model health.
Monitor and maintain the quality and performance of BIM models throughout the project lifecycle.
Identify technical issues within the architectural BIM workflow and provide practical solutions.
Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and support to BIM Architects and junior team members.
Conduct regular reviews of team performance and provide technical feedback and coaching.
Support the BIM Manager in developing team capabilities and identifying training requirements.
Coordinate with project planning and technical teams to ensure BIM deliverables align with construction sequences and project requirements.
Support the preparation of BIM-related reports, dashboards, progress updates, and performance indicators.
Ensure proper documentation and archiving of BIM models and related deliverables in accordance with company procedures.
Promote the use of BIM as a construction and coordination tool to improve project quality, productivity, and efficiency.
Identify opportunities to improve BIM processes, workflows, and coordination practices.
Ensure compliance with company policies, project procedures, quality standards, and HSE requirements.
Perform any other duties related to BIM architectural coordination as assigned by management.
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or a related engineering/architectural discipline.
- 6-8 years of relevant experience in architectural design, BIM, and construction projects, with proven experience in a BIM leadership or coordination role.
- Strong experience in BIM implementation within construction and technical office environments.
- Advanced knowledge of Autodesk Revit Architecture.
- Good knowledge of Navisworks Manage and BIM coordination and clash detection processes.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and other relevant architectural/BIM software.
- Strong understanding of architectural drawings, construction details, specifications, and construction methodologies.
- Strong understanding of BIM workflows, model coordination, and information management.
- Good knowledge of BIM standards, naming conventions, LOD requirements, and model development procedures.
