Role Purpose
The Senior Site Engineer – HVAC is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing HVAC construction activities to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with contractual, technical, and safety requirements. The role involves close coordination with project managers, site teams, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Accountabilities
Project Planning & Execution
- Review HVAC drawings, specifications, BOQs, and contract documents.
- Prepare HVAC shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements.
- Develop project execution plans, work schedules, and manpower planning for HVAC works.
- Monitor project progress and ensure adherence to approved schedules and milestones.
Site & Technical Management
- Supervise HVAC installation works (chilled water, VRF, DX, ducting, piping, ventilation, and controls).
- Ensure works comply with approved drawings, specifications, local codes, and industry standards.
- Provide technical solutions and resolve design and site-related issues.
- Coordinate with consultants for inspections, approvals, and technical clarifications.
Coordination & Communication
- Coordinate HVAC works with other disciplines (architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, fire fighting).
- Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery and quality of materials.
- Attend project meetings and prepare technical reports, progress updates, and look-ahead schedules.
Quality, Testing & Commissioning
- Implement project QA/QC procedures for HVAC works.
- Oversee testing, adjusting, and balancing (TAB) activities.
- Manage HVAC testing, commissioning, and handover documentation.
- Ensure timely snag clearance and final approvals.
Cost & Commercial Support
- Assist in quantity take-offs, cost control, and variation claims related to HVAC works.
- Monitor material usage and manpower productivity to avoid cost overruns.
- Support procurement activities and evaluate technical submissions.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with project HSE policies and procedures.
- Promote safe working practices on site and report hazards or incidents.
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 4–8 years of experience in HVAC works within construction projects.
- Proven experience in high-rise buildings, commercial, residential, or mixed-use projects.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, local codes, and international standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, etc.).
