Role Purpose

To provide technical expertise in structural engineering, ensuring the design, detailing, and execution of structural works comply with project specifications, UAE building codes, and international standards. The Technical Engineer – Structural is responsible for reviewing drawings, coordinating with stakeholders, and resolving technical issues to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of structural components.

Key Accountabilities

Technical Design Review & Coordination

  • Review structural design drawings, shop drawings, and calculations for compliance with project requirements and authority regulations.
  • Coordinate with design consultants to resolve discrepancies and ensure constructability.
  • Ensure that structural designs are optimized for safety, cost efficiency, and ease of construction.
  • Liaise with architects, MEP engineers, and other disciplines to integrate structural solutions seamlessly.

Site Technical Support

  • Provide technical assistance to site engineers and supervisors during construction.
  • Review and approve method statements, material submittals, and fabrication details for structural works.
  • Attend site inspections to ensure works are executed in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues on-site and propose corrective measures.

Compliance & Standards

  • Ensure adherence to UAE building codes (Dubai Municipality, Abu Dhabi Municipality, etc.), BS/ACI standards, and other relevant structural guidelines.
  • Verify that structural works meet authority requirements and support in obtaining approvals.
  • Follow ISO 9001 and company QA/QC procedures for technical documentation.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare and maintain technical reports, calculation sheets, and design change logs.
  • Maintain a record of all correspondence with consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Support the preparation of as-built documentation for project close-out.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or related field
  • 5-8 years related working experience in well-established Contracting Companies in GCC.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit Structure, and structural analysis software (ETABS, STAAD.Pro, SAFE, SAP2000).
  • Strong understanding of reinforced concrete and steel structures.
  • Familiarity with UAE authority submission requirements and procedures.
  • Should have the ability to operate individually and under supervision
  • Ability to develop and maintain highly effective relationships, externally and internally
