Senior Quantity Surveyor

Role Purpose

To manage quantity surveying and commercial measurement activities by supporting cost planning, valuation, tender review, and financial control of projects. The role is responsible for protecting commercial interests, improving cost visibility, supporting contract administration, and ensuring accurate quantity and cost assessments.

Key Accountabilities

Quantity Surveying & Measurement

  • Prepare, review, and verify quantity take-offs, measurements, and cost breakdowns.
  • Analyse drawings, specifications, and BOQs to identify scope requirements and commercial implications.
  • Ensure measurement accuracy for tendering, procurement, and project execution purposes.

Cost Planning & Budget Control

  • Support the preparation of estimates, budgets, and cost plans.
  • Monitor actual costs against budget and identify variances.
  • Provide advice on cost control measures and commercial risk areas.

Tendering & Commercial Review

  • Review tender documents, BOQs, specifications, and contract conditions.
  • Support pricing exercises and coordinate with procurement, engineering, and project teams.
  • Assist in preparing commercial submissions and clarifications.

Valuation & Payment Management

  • Prepare interim valuations, variation assessments, and final account support.
  • Review supplier and subcontractor payment applications where applicable.
  • Track project financial status, commitments, and commercial exposure.

Contract Administration Support

  • Support the review and administration of contract terms, claims, and variations.
  • Maintain records of contractual correspondence, measurements, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist in identifying contractual risks and opportunities.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare cost reports, commercial summaries, and forecasting inputs for management.
  • Provide detailed analysis of quantities, rates, and cost movements.
  • Support audits, reconciliations, and project close-out reviews.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of relevant experience in quantity surveying or commercial project roles.
  • Strong knowledge of measurement principles, cost control, tendering, and contract administration.
  • Experience in construction, fit-out, joinery, MEP, or trading/project-based environments is preferred.
  • Good understanding of commercial documentation, project costing, and variation management.
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with multiple stakeholders.
