Role Purpose
To lead surveying activities on infrastructure projects by ensuring the accurate setting-out, verification, and as-built surveying of roads, utilities, drainage, structures, and earthworks. The Senior Land Surveyor is responsible for maintaining survey control, supporting construction teams with precise engineering data, and ensuring all surveying activities comply with project specifications, design tolerances, and authority requirements. The role also provides technical guidance to survey teams while supporting efficient project delivery.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead and supervise daily surveying activities, ensuring accurate setting-out for roads, utilities, drainage, structures, landscaping, and earthworks.
- Establish and maintain survey control points, benchmarks, traverses, and coordinate systems throughout the project lifecycle.
- Verify construction works by carrying out line, level, alignment, and dimensional checks in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Construction, and QA/QC teams to ensure survey information supports efficient and accurate project execution.
- Prepare and review survey calculations, setting-out data, survey reports, and as-built drawings for submission and project records.
- Supervise and mentor Surveyors and Survey Assistants, ensuring compliance with surveying standards and best practices.
- Ensure calibration, maintenance, and proper utilisation of survey equipment including Total Stations, GNSS/GPS receivers, Digital Levels, and related surveying instruments.
- Identify and resolve surveying discrepancies, coordinate technical solutions, and provide accurate engineering data to support construction activities.
- Support quantity verification, progress measurement, and handover surveys where required.
- Maintain survey documentation, control records, calibration certificates, and quality documentation in accordance with project requirements.
- Ensure compliance with HSE procedures during surveying operations and promote safe working practices across all survey activities.
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 8–12+ years of surveying experience within infrastructure or heavy civil construction projects.
- Minimum 3 years in a senior surveying role supervising survey teams.
- Strong experience delivering infrastructure projects including roads, bridges, utilities, drainage, earthworks, marine works, and public realm developments.
- Advanced knowledge of Total Stations, GNSS/GPS equipment, Digital Levels, and survey software.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, coordinate systems, control networks, and construction tolerances.
