Procurement Engineer (Mechanical)

Role Purpose
The Procurement Engineer – Mechanical is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and procuring mechanical materials, equipment, and subcontract services required for construction projects in the UAE. The role ensures timely procurement in compliance with project specifications, budget, approved vendors, and local authority requirements while coordinating closely with project, engineering, and commercial teams.
Key Accountabilities
Procurement & Vendor Management
- Prepare and issue RFQs for mechanical materials and equipment (HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, pumps, chillers, AHUs, FCUs, valves, ducts, piping, etc.).
- Identify, prequalify, and evaluate suppliers and subcontractors in line with approved vendor lists.
- Conduct technical and commercial evaluations and prepare comparison sheets.
- Negotiate prices, delivery terms, warranties, and payment conditions.
Technical Coordination
- Coordinate with engineering and project teams to ensure compliance with specifications and drawings.
- Review mechanical technical submittals and ensure materials comply with consultant and authority requirements (DEWA, ADDC, DCD, Civil Defense, etc.).
- Ensure materials are approved before procurement and site delivery.
Purchase Orders & Delivery
- Prepare and process purchase orders in accordance with company procurement procedures.
- Monitor manufacturing, delivery schedules, and logistics to meet project timelines.
- Coordinate inspections, factory acceptance tests (FAT), and material approvals.
Cost Control & Budget Support
- Support the commercial team in cost control and budget monitoring.
- Ensure procurement activities align with approved budgets and cash flow requirements.
- Assist in value engineering and alternative material proposals when required.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain procurement records, approvals, contracts, and supplier documentation.
- Ensure compliance with project QA/QC, HSE, and contractual requirements.
- Coordinate warranty certificates, manuals, and spare parts documentation.
Coordination & Reporting
- Liaise with suppliers, logistics providers, site teams, consultants, and project managers.
- Prepare procurement status reports, delivery trackers, and cost summaries.
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 5–8 years of experience in mechanical procurement within construction companies in the UAE.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC and plumbing systems and materials.
- Experience dealing with UAE suppliers, manufacturers, and local authorities.
