IT Engagement Lead

Role Purpose

The role is responsible for building comms, engagement, and upskilling capability across IT. It is responsible for establishing and delivering a consistent, strategic approach to communications, upskilling, and engagement across IT and the rest of the business. The role develops and delivers a comms and upskilling plan, as well as engaging comms and learning content that supports the IT strategy and the evolution of IT itself (e.g., MIP) and the implementation required within IT and the wider business. The role works closely with corporate comms and marketing and learning and development to ensure messaging is aligned with organisational standards and delivered through the most effective channels, and plays a key part in improving transparency, engagement, understanding and capability across both IT and the wider business. 

Key Accountabilities

    • Develop and maintain a single IT comms plan aligned to the IT strategy and prioritised portfolio.
    • Establish communication framework, templates and governance for IT messaging.
    • Create clear, engaging content including SharePoint/intranet content, townhall slides, CIO announcements etc.
    • Translate complex technical or strategic topics into accessible, business friendly messaging, ensuring messaging is consistent and aligned with agreed narrative
    • Ensure alignment between IT comms and corporate messaging.
    • Plan and coordinate regular IT comms such as townhalls
    • Work closely with corporate comms and marketing team to align messaging, tone and brand standards, ensuring comms are delivered through appropriate channels.
    • Gather feedback and monitor engagement to continuously improve communication approaches.
    • Establish metrics to measure effectiveness and reach of IT communications.
    • Communicate the evolution of IT (e.g. MIP) and support the implementation required within IT and the wider business.
    • Develop and maintain an IT-wide upskilling plan and supporting content, driving a learning culture across the function.
    • Develop and maintain an engagement plan covering IT and the wider business.
    • Partner with programme and delivery teams on project-driven, business-facing change, which remains within delivery while the broader capability is established.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business, Communications, or related discipline
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in communications, change, or upskilling within data, digital, or technology functions.
  • Strong content creation and storytelling skills with the ability to simply complex topics.
  • Experience developing structured and unified comms plans and governance.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Understanding of IT initiatives and technology transformations.
