Role Purpose
The IT Business Partner acts as the primary interface between IT and designated business units within the construction sector. The role represents the IT function to the business, operating as a trusted advisor and relationship manager – capturing demand, understanding strategic priorities, and translating business needs into clear requirements and a business cases. The role ensures strong alignment between business outcomes and IT capabilities while proactively identifying opportunities for innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Key Accountabilities
- Act as the primary IT point of contact for assigned Build, including construction, MEP and infrastructure, business units.
- Build strong, trusted relationships with senior business stakeholders, providing quarterly updates on all related IT services to the business teams
- Maintain a clear understanding of business priorities, operational challenges, and sector specific drivers, ensuring alignment between IT initiatives and business objectives.
- Work with stakeholders to capture, shape, and refine business needs into well-defined requirements.
- Oversee Business Analysis in gathering detailed requirements, process insights, and user needs.
- Promote consistent business analysis practices aligned with the rest of the Strategy & Architecture team.
- Provide a clear pathway from business demand into architecture governance and IT delivery, ensuring demand is assessed for strategic alignment, feasibility and value.
- Work closely with enterprise architecture and delivery teams to establish and streamline demand management process for clear handover to delivery as well as prioritising technology initiatives.
- Contribute to IT business planning, investment prioritisation, and roadmap development.
- Foster a collaborative, customer-focused approach.
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Construction Management, Engineering or related discipline
- Experience in IT Business Partnering or Technology Relationship Management roles.
- Strong understanding of construction and/or infrastructure sector operations, delivery models and challenges.
- Proven ability to manage stakeholder relationships at senior levels.
- Experience translating business needs into structured IT demand and requirements.
- Knowledge of IT delivery lifecycles, enterprise architecture practices, and portfolio management processes.
