Role Purpose
A Cost Control Engineer is responsible for supporting project cost control activities to ensure accurate budgeting, cost monitoring, and financial reporting. Monitor project expenditures and assist in forecasting final costs. Provides cost data and analysis to support management decision-making. Ensures compliance with contractual requirements and company cost control procedures.
Key Accountabilities
- Track and monitor actual project costs against approved budgets.
- Maintain and update project cost breakdown structures (CBS).
- Record and update cost data for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Prepare periodic cost reports for project and management teams.
- Identify cost variances and support analysis of overruns or savings.
- Assist in preparing Estimate at Completion (EAC) and cash flow forecasts.
- Track commitments, accruals, and invoices.
- Coordinate with site teams to collect cost and progress data.
- Ensure cost data accuracy in ERP and cost control systems.
- Support procurement cost tracking and subcontractor cost monitoring.
- Follow company cost control procedures and reporting standards.
- Support audits and financial reviews when required.
- Assist in variation and change order cost tracking.
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical or Civil engineering.
- 2–5 years experience in cost control within construction/MEP projects.
- Certifications such as CCP or PMP (optional).
