Role Purpose

The Structure Technical Team Leader is responsible for leading and coordinating structural technical office activities, ensuring that structural design, shop drawings, technical submittals, calculations, and construction-related technical issues are properly reviewed, coordinated, and delivered in accordance with approved designs, project specifications, codes, and project schedules.

The role provides technical leadership to the structural engineering team and ensures effective coordination between structural, architectural, MEP, BIM, construction, consultants, and subcontractors.

Key Accountabilities

Lead and supervise the structural technical office team and distribute tasks according to project priorities and team capabilities.
Review and coordinate structural shop drawings, design drawings, details, and technical documents before submission for approval.
Ensure that structural drawings and technical submissions comply with approved design documents, project specifications, applicable codes, and standards.
Review structural calculations and design information and coordinate with structural designers and consultants whenever required.
Coordinate structural works with architectural, MEP, infrastructure, and other disciplines to identify and resolve clashes and technical conflicts.
Review and respond to RFIs, technical queries, and requests for clarification related to structural works.
Prepare, review, and coordinate technical submittals, method statements, material submittals, and other structural documentation.
Support the project team in resolving technical issues encountered during construction.
Coordinate with site engineers and construction teams to ensure that structural works are executed in accordance with approved drawings and technical requirements.
Review structural variations, design changes, and their technical implications.
Monitor the preparation and approval of as-built drawings and ensure that final structural documentation accurately reflects the executed works.
Coordinate with consultants, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers on structural technical matters.
Participate in technical meetings and provide technical input and recommendations where required.
Ensure that technical deliverables are prepared and submitted according to the project schedule.
Monitor the status of structural drawings, RFIs, technical submittals, and approvals and take necessary actions to avoid delays.
Identify technical risks and potential design or construction issues and propose appropriate solutions.
Review subcontractor and supplier technical submissions related to structural works.
Ensure proper document control and traceability of structural technical documents.
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to structural engineers and technical office team members.
Review the team's work and ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with project requirements.
Coordinate with the planning team to align technical deliverables with project milestones and construction activities.
Support the Technical Manager in technical reporting, progress monitoring, and resolution of critical project issues.
Ensure compliance with company procedures, quality standards, health and safety requirements, and project-specific requirements.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 6-8 years of relevant experience in structural engineering and technical office activities within the construction industry.
  • Previous experience in a technical office leadership or team leader role is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of structural construction methods, materials, and engineering practices.
  • Strong knowledge of structural drawings, shop drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
