Role Purpose
The Senior Procurement Engineer is responsible for managing the procurement of construction materials, equipment, subcontractors, and services required for projects. The role ensures timely purchasing, cost optimization, quality compliance, and adherence to project schedules while maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Key Accountabilities
Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with project requirements and company objectives.
Review project specifications, drawings, BOQs, and schedules to identify procurement needs.
Prepare procurement plans, material schedules, and purchasing timelines.
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and planning teams to ensure procurement activities support project execution.
Identify, evaluate, and prequalify suppliers, manufacturers, and subcontractors.
Maintain and update approved vendor lists.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
Conduct supplier performance evaluations and recommend improvements.
Prepare RFQs, RFPs, and tender documents.
Analyze quotations and bids from suppliers and subcontractors.
Perform technical and commercial evaluations to ensure compliance with project specifications.
Lead negotiations on pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, warranties, and contractual conditions
Issue purchase orders and monitor order progress.
Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and contractual obligations.
Review and administer procurement contracts and subcontracts.
Resolve procurement-related disputes, claims, and delivery issues.
Monitor supplier production schedules and delivery commitments.
Coordinate logistics, shipping, customs clearance, and site deliveries where applicable.
Ensure materials and equipment arrive on time to support project schedules.
Follow up on delayed deliveries and implement corrective actions
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as CIPS, PMP, or Supply Chain certifications are an advantage.
- 4-6 years of procurement experience in construction, infrastructure, industrial, or EPC projects.
- Proven experience managing procurement for large-scale construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, equipment, subcontracting, and procurement processes.
