Role Purpose

The Senior Mechanical Site Engineer is responsible for leading and overseeing the on-site execution of all mechanical systems within a construction project, including HVAC, plumbing, fire fighting, and drainage systems. This role ensures that all mechanical work is completed according to approved designs, industry standards, quality benchmarks, and safety regulations.

Key Accountabilities

  • Supervise and manage the execution of mechanical systems on-site, including HVAC, plumbing, fire fighting, and other mechanical services.
  • Review and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and material submittals to ensure proper implementation.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines (electrical, civil, architectural) to avoid clashes and ensure seamless site execution.
  • Monitor site progress and ensure that mechanical works are delivered within the project schedule and budget.
  • Inspect installations for quality and compliance with relevant codes (ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, IPC, etc.).
  • Lead site teams, technicians, and subcontractors; assign tasks and provide technical guidance.
  • Attend project meetings with consultants, clients, and contractors to discuss progress, issues, and coordination.
  • Conduct or supervise testing, commissioning, and handover of mechanical systems.
  • Prepare daily and weekly progress reports and support in preparing as-built documentation.
  • Identify and resolve technical problems or conflicts on site efficiently.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety standards and site HSE policies during all mechanical work.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • 3-5 years of experience in mechanical works, with at least 3 years in a senior or supervisory role in construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, materials, and construction site procedures.
  • Familiarity with international standards and codes (ASHRAE, NFPA, IPC, SMACNA, etc.).
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Office, and mechanical design/calculation software (e.g., HAP, DuctSizer is a plus).
  • Excellent leadership, coordination, and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple site activities simultaneously.
