Role Purpose
The Senior MEP Construction Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating all on-site mechanical and electrical construction activities to ensure the effective delivery of MEP systems across the project. The role provides advanced technical oversight, ensures full compliance with design specifications and industry standards, resolves complex site issues, and drives progress across all MEP work fronts. As a higher-grade role, the Senior MEP CM acts as the primary technical authority for MEP construction and supports management in decision-making, planning, and interface coordination.
Key Accountabilities
- Oversee and coordinate daily MEP site activities across all disciplines and work zones to ensure alignment with project plans and priorities.
- Review and validate MEP designs, drawings, specifications, and method statements to ensure constructability and compliance with project requirements.
- Develop MEP construction sequences, work plans, and look-ahead schedules in coordination with civil and architectural teams.
- Monitor progress, resource allocation, and subcontractor performance to ensure timely and quality execution of all MEP systems.
- Ensure all installations comply with local regulations and international standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, IPC, NEC, IEC, SMACNA).
- Support procurement activities by reviewing technical submittals, tracking deliveries, and confirming material readiness for site execution.
- Lead and oversee testing, commissioning, and handover processes for mechanical and electrical systems.
- Identify and resolve complex technical issues, design inconsistencies, and site conflicts, escalating critical matters when required.
- Participate in progress meetings and represent the MEP construction function with consultants, clients, and internal leadership.
- Ensure implementation of QA/QC requirements and compliance with HSE regulations across all MEP activities.
- Ensure adherence to QA/QC procedures and HSE requirements across all MEP site activities.
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in MEP construction, including complex or large-scale projects.
- Advanced technical knowledge of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection) and electrical systems (power distribution, lighting, low-current).
- Strong understanding of international codes and standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, IPC, NEC, IEC).
- Proven ability to coordinate multidisciplinary activities and resolve high-level technical issues.
- Excellent communication, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in project management and design tools (Primavera, MS Project, AutoCAD; Revit preferred).
- Professional certification (PMP or equivalent) is an advantage.
