Senior Cost Control Engineer

Role Purpose

Performs advanced cost control functions on construction projects, including detailed budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and cost reporting. The role is responsible for analysing project financial data, preparing cost performance reports, and supporting the implementation of corrective actions to maintain budget compliance. It requires close coordination with planning, procurement, and commercial teams, with a focus on ensuring accuracy and consistency in project cost tracking and documentation

Key Accountabilities

• Lead and mentor the cost control team, ensuring best practices across all project stages.

• Develop and manage project cost plans, budgets, and forecasts aligned with scope and contracts.

• Monitor expenditures, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions to control costs.

• Prepare cash flow projections and financial forecasts to support planning.

• Review and assess cost impacts of variations, claims, and change orders with project teams.

• Provide clear, accurate, and timely cost reports to management and stakeholders.

• Identify cost-related risks and support mitigation strategies.

• Enhance cost control systems, procedures, and reporting tools.

• Collaborate with project managers, QS, procurement, finance, and auditors to align financial objectives.

• Ensure compliance with company policies, Egyptian laws, and international standards while maintaining accurate cost records.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

• 4–6 years of progressive experience in cost control within large-scale construction projects, preferably in Egypt or the MENA region.

• Demonstrated success in leading cost control functions and managing teams.

• In-depth knowledge of cost control methodologies, construction contracts, and project management software (Primavera P6, SAP, advanced MS Excel).

• Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills.

• Familiarity with Egyptian construction standards, contractual frameworks, and regulatory requirements.

• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management abilities.

• Ability to perform effectively under pressure and deliver results in fast-paced project environments.

• Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
