Senior BIM Engineer

Role Purpose

The Senior BIM Engineer is responsible for leading the development, coordination, and management of Building Information Modeling (BIM) for civil and infrastructure projects. The role ensures that BIM models comply with project requirements, company standards, and industry best practices while supporting project teams throughout the design and construction lifecycle. The Senior BIM Civil Engineer also mentors junior engineers and coordinates with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, clash-free models. 

Key Accountabilities

• Develop, review, and manage detailed 3D BIM models for civil and infrastructure projects.
• Lead BIM coordination activities among civil, structural, architectural, and MEP disciplines.
• Ensure compliance with the project's BIM Execution Plan (BEP), Employer's Information Requirements (EIR), and company BIM standards.
• Perform clash detection using Navisworks or similar software and coordinate issue resolution.
• Prepare and maintain BIM documentation, model standards, workflows, and project templates.
• Produce accurate construction drawings, shop drawings, and quantity take-offs from BIM models.
• Support project planning through 4D (construction sequencing) and 5D (cost estimation) BIM applications where applicable.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and clients to resolve technical and modeling issues.
• Review model quality, accuracy, and Level of Development (LOD) requirements throughout project phases.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to BIM Engineers and BIM Modelers.
• Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, and coordination workshops.
• Monitor BIM deliverables, project schedules, and quality standards.
• Ensure compliance with relevant codes, specifications, and company quality management procedures.
• Stay updated on BIM technologies, software developments, and industry best practices.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• 4-6 years of experience in civil engineering, including at least 5 years in BIM-related roles.
• Experience in large-scale building, infrastructure, or mixed-use construction projects.
• Professional certifications in BIM are an advantage.
