Role Purpose
Establishment of framework for the Contracts and Claims Department’s procedures, incorporating & upholding organization’s policies, standards, and goals. Advising & providing strategic council to Senior and Upper Management, to make an informed decision.
Key Accountabilities
- Establishment of framework for the Contracts Department procedures, incorporating the company policies and upholding international standards.
- Advising and providing strategic council to Senior and Upper Management, to make an informed decision.
- Coaching and mentoring the Contracts Department Team, in the day-to-day monitoring and tracking of all contractual obligations / time-bars and drafting the relevant correspondences, notices, claims and counterclaims; for a self-sustained and successful team.
- Review, risk assessment, qualification, and negotiation of Pre-Award Contracts, inclusive of safeguards against market fluctuations, i.e. claim mechanisms and escalated prices reimbursement.
- Drafting and negotiating Joint Venture and Consortium Agreements for collaborations with various national and international entities.
- Defending and negotiating claims with counterparts of the Employer, and/or Engineer, and drafting resolution amendments.
- Supporting with Projects’ close-out and settlement of claims and disputed Variations.
- Compiling of claims for EOT, acceleration, and their associated cost Implications (prolongation and/or disruption costs), to be presented to Mediation and/or Arbitration entities and providing support during proceedings.
- Ensures that projects, facilities, and functions operate in accordance with the organizational health safety and wellbeing and environment and sustainability policy’s, HSSE manual, and Standard Operating Procedures relative to the project or function. Monitors the effective implementation of these requirements, addressing shortcomings as required with relative persons.
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in construction engineering or any other engineering related fields.
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in contract management in construction industry.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Excellent Command of English language skills.
- An analytical mindset with excellent organizational skills.
