BIM Electrical Team Leader

Role Purpose
The BIM Electrical Team Leader is responsible for leading the Electrical BIM team in delivering coordinated, high-quality BIM models, shop drawings, and technical documentation for construction projects. The role ensures compliance with project requirements, BIM Execution Plans (BEP), company standards, and industry best practices while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to achieve timely and accurate project delivery.
Key Accountabilities
Lead, supervise, and mentor the BIM Electrical Engineers and BIM Modelers assigned to projects.
Plan, assign, and monitor team workloads to ensure project deliverables are completed on time.
Review and approve electrical BIM models, shop drawings, and technical documentation before submission.
Ensure all BIM deliverables comply with the BIM Execution Plan (BEP), project specifications, and company standards.
Coordinate electrical BIM activities with architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and infrastructure disciplines.
Lead clash detection and model coordination activities using Navisworks or similar coordination software.
Resolve multidisciplinary clashes and technical issues in collaboration with project teams.
Coordinate with consultants, clients, contractors, and subcontractors regarding electrical BIM requirements.
Review consultant comments and ensure timely implementation and resubmission of deliverables.
Ensure Electrical BIM models meet the required Level of Development (LOD) and Level of Information (LOI).
Support construction teams by providing technical clarifications and resolving BIM-related site issues.
Review electrical shop drawings, installation details, and coordinated construction documentation.
Monitor model quality through regular audits and quality control procedures.
Assist in preparing quantity take-offs and model-based documentation when required.
Participate in design coordination meetings and multidisciplinary technical workshops.
Identify opportunities for value engineering and improved constructability.
Monitor project progress and report engineering status, risks, and resource requirements.
Support the implementation of BIM standards, templates, libraries, and best practices.
Provide coaching and technical training to team members to enhance their BIM capabilities.
Ensure compliance with company quality, health, safety, environmental, and information management policies.
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- BIM or Autodesk certifications are an advantage.
- Professional Engineering registration is preferred.
- 8–10 years of experience in electrical engineering and BIM within the construction industry.
- Minimum 3 years of experience leading Electrical BIM teams.
- Experience delivering large-scale commercial, residential, hospitality, healthcare, industrial, or mixed-use projects.
- Strong background in multidisciplinary BIM coordination.
