BIM Electrical Team Leader

Role Purpose

The BIM Electrical Team Leader is responsible for managing and coordinating the electrical BIM team throughout the project lifecycle. The role involves overseeing the development, implementation, and quality control of electrical BIM models, ensuring compliance with project requirements, company standards, and industry best practices. The BIM Electrical Team Leader collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to support design coordination, clash detection, construction planning, and project delivery.

Key Accountabilities

Leadership & Team Management
Lead, mentor, and supervise BIM Electrical Engineers and Modelers.
Allocate tasks and resources effectively to meet project schedules and deliverables.
Monitor team performance and provide technical guidance and training.
Conduct regular team meetings and performance reviews.
Support recruitment, onboarding, and development of BIM personnel.
BIM Modeling & Coordination
Manage the creation, development, and maintenance of electrical BIM models using approved software platforms.
Ensure models comply with project BIM Execution Plans (BEP), client requirements, and company standards.
Coordinate with Mechanical, Structural, Architectural, Civil, and other disciplines to resolve design conflicts.
Lead clash detection processes and coordinate resolution meetings.
Review model accuracy, completeness, and constructability.
Project Delivery
Develop and maintain BIM project workflows and execution strategies.
Ensure timely delivery of BIM models, shop drawings, coordination drawings, and project documentation.
Monitor project progress and report status to management.
Support construction teams with model-based information and technical solutions.
Participate in project planning, scheduling, and risk assessment activities.
Quality Assurance & Standards
Establish and enforce BIM standards, templates, and best practices.
Perform quality checks and audits on BIM deliverables.
Ensure compliance with local regulations, international standards, and project specifications.
Maintain accurate project documentation and version control.
Technical Support & Innovation
Stay updated on BIM technologies, software developments, and industry trends.
Support the implementation of new BIM tools, workflows, and automation solutions.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of BIM processes across the organization.
Assist in developing BIM libraries, families, and company standards.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 6–8 years of experience in Electrical Engineering within construction, MEP, or engineering consultancy environments.
  • Minimum 4–5 years of BIM leadership or coordination experience.
  • Proven experience on large-scale construction projects such as commercial, residential, healthcare, industrial, infrastructure, or mixed-use developments.
