BIM Electrical Deputy Manager

Role Purpose

The BIM Electrical Deputy Manager supports the BIM Manager in leading the implementation, coordination, and delivery of Building Information Modeling (BIM) for electrical engineering projects. The role is responsible for managing electrical BIM teams, ensuring compliance with project BIM requirements, coordinating with multidisciplinary stakeholders, and driving the successful delivery of high-quality BIM models and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Accountabilities

Assist the BIM Manager in planning, managing, and overseeing the Electrical BIM team across multiple projects.
Supervise, mentor, and develop BIM Electrical Engineers and BIM Modelers to enhance technical capability and productivity.
Allocate resources and monitor team workloads to ensure project milestones are achieved.
Support recruitment, training, and performance evaluations of BIM staff.
Promote continuous improvement and the adoption of BIM best practices.
Lead the development and coordination of electrical BIM models from design through construction.
Ensure BIM deliverables comply with project BIM Execution Plans (BEP), Employer's Information Requirements (EIR), and company BIM standards.
Review and approve electrical BIM models, drawings, and documentation before submission.
Monitor Level of Development (LOD) requirements throughout all project stages.
Coordinate BIM workflows across multiple projects to ensure consistency and quality.
Coordinate with architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, civil, and ELV disciplines to resolve design and coordination issues.
Lead clash detection and model coordination meetings using Navisworks or similar software.
Provide technical guidance for electrical systems, including:
Power distribution
Lighting systems
Fire alarm systems
Low-current and ELV systems
Earthing and lightning protection
Emergency power systems
Resolve technical and constructability issues during design and construction phases.
Support quantity take-offs, shop drawings, as-built models, and construction documentation.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 10-12 years of experience in electrical engineering, with at least 5 years in BIM leadership or coordination roles.
  • Experience managing BIM teams on large-scale building or infrastructure projects.
  • BIM-related certifications are preferred.
