BIM Architecture Team Leader

Role Purpose
Lead and manage the architectural BIM team to ensure the effective delivery of coordinated, accurate, and high-quality BIM models and technical outputs throughout all project stages. The role is responsible for team performance, BIM standards implementation, coordination with other disciplines, and ensuring that BIM deliverables comply with project requirements, company standards, and construction needs.
Key Accountabilities
Lead, supervise, and manage the Architectural BIM team across assigned construction projects.
Plan, distribute, and monitor BIM-related tasks among team members according to project priorities and deadlines.
Develop and maintain architectural BIM models using Autodesk Revit and other relevant BIM software.
Review and approve architectural models, drawings, families, and BIM deliverables produced by the team.
Ensure BIM models comply with project BIM Execution Plans, Employer Requirements, LOD requirements, and company standards.
Ensure architectural models are accurately developed based on approved design, shop drawings, technical information, and site requirements.
Coordinate architectural BIM models with Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Infrastructure, and other disciplines.
Lead BIM coordination and clash detection activities and ensure identified issues are properly tracked and resolved.
Participate in coordination meetings with project teams, consultants, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
Review and resolve technical and modeling issues raised by BIM Coordinators, Engineers, and project teams.
Ensure proper implementation of BIM workflows, modeling standards, naming conventions, coding, and documentation requirements.
Monitor the progress and quality of BIM deliverables against approved project schedules.
Provide technical guidance and support to BIM Engineers, BIM Coordinators, and BIM Modelers.
Identify technical risks, coordination issues, and potential design/construction conflicts at an early stage.
Support the development and implementation of BIM standards, templates, libraries, families, and workflows.
Ensure proper management, organization, and exchange of BIM information through the project's Common Data Environment (CDE).
Review model-based quantities and information when required and coordinate with the Quantity Surveying/Cost Control team.
Support the preparation of construction documentation, shop drawings, as-built models, and other BIM-related deliverables.
Coordinate with site and technical office teams to ensure BIM models reflect actual construction requirements and conditions.
Monitor team performance and provide regular feedback, coaching, and technical development.
Identify training requirements and support continuous improvement of the BIM team's capabilities.
Ensure compliance with company procedures, quality standards, HSE requirements, and project-specific requirements.
Prepare and submit regular progress reports covering BIM activities, deliverables, coordination status, and key issues.
Support BIM management in implementing BIM strategies and improving digital construction workflows.
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or a related engineering/design discipline.
- 8-10 years of relevant architectural/BIM experience, preferably within construction, contracting, or engineering environments.
- Proven experience in leading an Architectural BIM team on large-scale construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of Autodesk Revit Architecture and BIM workflows.
- Strong understanding of architectural construction methods, materials, and detailing.
- Strong knowledge of BIM coordination, clash detection, model review, and interdisciplinary coordination.
- Experience with Navisworks and other BIM coordination/review platforms.
- Good knowledge of BIM standards, LOD, BEP, model naming conventions, and information management.
- Experience working within a Common Data Environment (CDE).
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
- Strong understanding of shop drawings, construction documentation, and as-built requirements.
