Senior Land Surveyor

Role Purpose

Lead and oversee 4 to 5 projects and their respective teams, ensuring the accurate setting out of all construction activities and verification that completed works meet the defined tolerances and required standards. 

Key Accountabilities

Maintain task schedules in line with operational priorities. 

Oversee surveying activities across multiple projects and assign duties to land surveying personnel accordingly. 

Review project drawings and coordinate surveying requirements to support project execution. 

Provide survey data to technical office engineers and advise on surveying requirements to ensure construction plans are practically achievable. 

Prepare drawings and maps using surveying software, computer-aided design applications, and other cartographic techniques. 

Ensure all as-built data is accurately collected, stored, and used to update construction drawings. 

Establish benchmarks and reference points for use on site. 

Develop surveying activity plans in coordination with the site team. 

Report surveyor performance and work progress to the Land Surveying Manager on a daily and weekly basis. 

Ensure work is completed to the required quality standards and in compliance with all corporate policies and regulations. 

Manage surveyors and their assistants across projects in accordance with operational requirements. 

Calibrate and adjust surveying instruments to maintain accuracy and reliability. 

Monitor structural elements throughout the course of the work. 

Maintain complete records of surveying activities for all sites upon completion. 

Coordinate with subcontractors to facilitate the timely commencement of their work. 

Provide technical and equipment training to land surveying teams. 

Keep abreast of technological developments and apply relevant new knowledge in the workplace. 

Ensure strict compliance with HSE policies and procedures. 

Report HSE incidents and violations to supervisors in a timely manner. 

Ensure strict compliance with all applicable legal requirements. 

Drive innovation and encourage continuous improvement and cost-effective solutions without compromising quality. 

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Arts, or an equivalent qualification. 
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with well-established contracting companies in the GCC. 
  • Good knowledge of the requirements of project works authorities in the UAE. 
  • Sound knowledge of surveying technology and AutoCAD. 
  • Ability to work independently as well as under supervision. 
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain effective internal and external working relationships. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to use experience and judgement to plan work and achieve objectives. 
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and perform effectively under pressure. 
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office applications. 
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and operational demands. 
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and site conditions, including flexible working hours.
